Joseph Georges

Joseph Georges has successfully passed his dissertation defense. The title of his dissertation is “Evaluating and Controlling Glioblastoma Infiltration.” Joseph worked on his dissertation at both the Barrow Neurological Institute and TGen under the guidance of his mentor, Dr. Burt Feuerstein.

Joseph’s PhD degree will be awarded on May 12, 2014. Congratulations, Joseph!

Francisco Costela

Francisco Costela successfully passed his qualifying exams on February 28, 2014. Francisco’s mentors are Dr. Susana Martinez-Conde from Barrow Neurological Institute, and Dr. Sharon Crook, from the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at ASU.

Ali Elhadi

Ali Elhadi successfully passed his qualifying exams on December 17, 2013. Ali’s mentors are Dr. Bruce Towe, from the School of Biological and Health System Engineering at ASU, and Dr. Mark Preul, from Barrow Neurological Institute.

Katie Hutchinson

Katie Hutchinson has successfully passed her dissertation defense. The title of her dissertation is “Exploring developmental mechanisms and function of drosophila motoneuron dendrites with targeted genetic manipulation of DSCAM.” Katie worked on her dissertation at ASU under the guidance of her mentor, Dr. Carsten Duch.

Katie’s PhD degree was awarded on December 18, 2013. Congratulations, Katie!

Junshi Wang

Junshi Wang has successfully passed his dissertation defense. The title of his dissertation is "Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor Signaling in the Mesolimbic Dopamine System: Social Defeat Stress-induced Cross-sensitization to Psychostimulants and Escalation of Cocaine Intake." Junshi worked on his dissertation at the College of Medicine - Downtown Phoenix under the guidance of his mentor, Dr. Ronald Hammer.

Zuha Warraich

Zuha Warraich has successfully passed her dissertation defense. The title of her dissertation is "Investigating the Efficacy of Novel TrkB Agonists to Augment Stroke Recovery." Zuha worked on her dissertation at ASU under the guidance of her mentor, Dr. Jeffrey Kleim. 

Zuha's PhD degree was awarded on August 13, 2013. She was hooded by Dr. Kleim at the graduation ceremony in December. Congratulations, Zuha!

Mari Turk successfully passed her qualifying exams on September 16, 2013. Mari’s mentor is Dr. Matthew Huentelman, a Neuroscience faculty member from TGen.
